Star Wars Trailer Talk

WOW it’s been so long since I’ve posted anything here :[ sorry guys but I’ve been off on holiday in the AMAZING NYC. So before I start this post proper I guess I should share some highlights of what happened on the trip.

TBH the true highlight for me was BROADWAY, BROADWAY and BROADWAY.

I’ve watched many plays and musicals in different countries before, but Broadway is really something else. There’s just this energy and sense of tradition that makes it so much more special.

So I caught Wicked, Matilda and The Elephant Man.

Basically, to keep this short, they were all awesome productions and… I met Bradley Cooper! 😀 (he’s in the cast of The Elephant Man.) So my heart might have stopped and I might have nearly hyperventilated but come on it’s Bradley Cooper.

Moving on… let’s get to the real contents of this post: The Star Wars Movie Trailer!

Several big movie trailers have been released recently, and wow I have so much to say about all of them but why don’t we start with the one everyone has been talking about for the past 1-2 weeks:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Ok first things first if you somehow haven’t already watched it or want to re-watch it, click here.

Additionally, here is a very brief premise:

“Set approximately 30 years after the demise of Darth Vader, the film will star a trio of new leads along with returning actors from the previous installments.”

Done? So what did you think? TBH for me, this whole trailer was one big “huh?”

When it first starts, we see a desert (presumably Tatooine) with what looks like 1970s style CGI… ok I’m not sure if there’s such a thing as CGI-ing a desert but it just kind of looked a lot like the one in the original.

Then, after spilling coffee over that random guy appearing came my first “huh?” moment: wait so this 1970s desert CGI scene is in the actual movie? It’s not just some “reminiscence” of the look of the original? And why does this seem so “un-epic” in a way I can’t place my finger on?

We then see some familiar looking ships and robots moving about in a hurry, until we get to that scene. Yea you know which one I’m talking about: the one where that Darth Vader lookalike is holding an upturned cross.

My “huh” turned quickly into a “wtf” after replaying that scene several times in disbelief, I mean I could literally already see the top comments down below making some really smart joke about this ridiculous change. To sum up my thoughts on this, just check out the reaction video “George Lucas” did on the trailer, which you can check out here.

OK I guess it’s still too early for us to say anything. I mean we’ve barely seen ANY of the cast nor seen any kind of plot-wise content in the trailer so for all we know there could be a proper explanation for all that. On the note of the cast, I’m kind of excited to see what new characters have been created for this film. I mean, looking at the cast, there just seems to be so many supporting characters played by the likes of Lupita N’yongo, Oscar Isaac and Andy Serkis.

So those are my brief thoughts on that supported by my very limited research. I’ll probably talk more about this in the future once I actually know more of the little and important details of the movie.

Any thoughts? Please comment/follow/share and all that stuff! 😀
